Welcome!

Hello.  My name is Eric and I am a firefighter working in Miami Florida for the past eight years.  Our department is one of the busiest in the country.  We respond to every imaginable type of emergency including: fires, accidents, medical, hazardous materials, trapped victims, and trouble on the water.  Our department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; there is no such thing as being closed for weekends or holidays.  The dedicated men and women of the fire department work 24 hour shifts and therefore we consider our crews to be like a second family and we think of the station as our home away from home.  As a result, we try to make living in our second home as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, one part of this is enjoying good homemade meals at the station as a crew.  Cooking and sharing meals together is a time for bonding and camaraderie.  Naturally, it is also the opportunity for us to nourish our bodies for the long, strenuous 24 shift of work.  I have recently come into a position where I share in the cooking duties for my station.  This is a great way for me to explore my love of food and cooking by preparing meals for my coworkers.  In this blog I hope to share some recipes, cooking tips, humorous tales from within the fire department and other experiences with you.  I also hope that you leave suggestions, comments and impart your own experiences in the kitchen or with the fire department.  Thanks for stopping by!
